Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) provides essential programs and services to help protect and improve the health of our community. We are always working to make Jefferson County a safer and healthier place to live, work and play.


Jefferson County Public Health offers programs and services for Family Support, Clinical Health, Communicable Disease, and Tobacco & Substance Abuse Prevention. Use the links of the left to learn more.


JCPH is committed to protecting your personal health information. Protected health information (PHI) includes information that we have created or received regarding your health, your health care, and payment for your health care. Follow this link to read our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Public Health Nurse Services:  Education and support for pregnant women and parenting families, childbirth education classes, newborn follow-up and home visitations, breastfeeding consultation, and support group.

WIC (Women, Infant and Children) supplemental food program: Nutrition education and food vouchers for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children under 5 years of age who financially qualify.

Children with Special Healthcare Needs:  Public Health Nurse consultations and support for children with chronic health problems and developmental delays. Information on financial resources also provided.

Family Planning Clinic:  Annual exams, birth control methods, pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, education, and referrals.

Breast & Cervical Health Program:  Free women's health screening exams including mammogram for women age 40 - 65, who are financially eligable.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic:  Confidential diagnosis, treatment, preventive education, partner notification, and referrals.

Immunizations:  Routine immunizations for children and adults. Walk-in clinics are Tuesday and Thursday, 1 - 4 p.m. Sliding scale fees. Services for children not denied due to inability to pay. International travel vaccines available by appointment only. Please call for an appointment one month before departure.

Foot Care Program:  Services provided at senior centers for those age 60 and older who need foot-care; and for individuals of any age with diabetes or handicapping conditions. 

Communicable Disease:  Consultation, investigation, and tracking. TB screening and monitoring (testing available Tuesdays 1 - 4 p.m.).

Syringe Exchange Program:  Anonymous and confidential walk-in services to exchange used syringes for new, safer injection supplies; health care referrals, HIV counseling and testing, hepatitis screening.

Substance Abuse Prevention:  Education and coordination of alcohol and drug prevention programs for youth in the County.

Tobacco Prevention & Control:  Provides community education and information on smoking cessation and prevention programs.
